My Take

Treachery in Death had me very conflicted. On the one hand, I was racing through it — I had to know how Dallas was going to resolve this one! On the other hand, when I finished it, I knew I’d have to wait forever for the next installment…wahh.

Peabody gets a nasty, nasty surprise after work one night. A surprise, which sets off a major shake-up of the department. It’s tricky and full of betrayals that could end in a lot more deaths. It gives Eve lots of scope for being nasty herself which is always fun to watch as it turns the tables on the bad guys. I do so enjoy it when the bully gets taken down! Dan Webster from IAB gets to be in on the fun (he’s got a new thing going on and it’ll be interesting to see where it takes him), which, naturally, means some flare-ups between him and Eve…and Roarke (It cracks me up how Roarke handles Webster…Robb really gets that guy dynamic!). And Webster’s thing is embarrassing the heck out of our kickass Eve with her puritanical approach to other people’s sex lives.

There wasn’t much of the Roarke-riches pulled on Dallas — I do so enjoy how Roarke embarrasses Eve into pretty clothes and doing the social thing. On the other hand, Eve is mellowing in, a progress which is very pleasing to observe.

I did wonder how Robb would handle the difference between being a rat and being standup with one’s fellow cops…nice job. Hit some milestones. Brought in some new characters…or added a twist to the ones we have. Detectives Janburry and Delfino from another Division pop in and I like their partnership-other dynamics. I hope Robb brings them in again! I’m worried about Whitney. I like him. He’s a good cop and I want him to be okay. I suspect Feeney and McNab might have opportunities after retirement…hopefully, that’s a long ways away yet. Mavis revisits her old grifting ways for a short stint while baby Bella is turning into a real ham. Poor Roarke’s taken some nasty hits on this from Eve….poor baby…snicker… And Eve. Oh boy. That desk kinda looms there.
