Fourth in the Guild Hunter paranormal-romance series surrounding archangels who rule the world and the vampires who serve them. Based in an alternate New York City.

In 2012, Archangel’s Blade won the All About Romance Annual Reader Poll for Most Tortured Hero and was nominated for the RITA Award by Romance Writers of America for Best Paranormal Romance; in 2011, it was nominated for the Romantic Times Reviewers’ Choice Award for Best Paranormal Vampire Romance.

My Take

This was good. I loved the interaction between Honor and Dmitri. Never would have thought to see him brought low by love! It was fascinating to watch Dmitri “tame” Honor. Enabling her trust through his machinations, his words, his touch.

We also learned more about the shared history of Dmitri and Raphael along with some insight into his relationships with Illium and Elena. Along with the very sad tale of how Dmitri came to be.

The Story

People are going missing. Bodies are turning up with strange tattoos. And the Tower has turned to the Hunters’ Guild for their expertise in ancient languages and cultures.

The Characters

Honor is a Hunter who was kidnapped and tortured by vampires for two months.

Dmitri, Raphael’s second-in-command, is a vampire who has been alive for over 1,000 years and has never forgotten the brutal murder of his family.

The Cover and Title

The cover looks like a video game. I’m assuming the intense, very well-muscled dark-haired man approaching us is Dmitri in his black leather coat and jeans emerging through an open iron gate, a lit manse behind him. The title, Archangel’s Blade, is referenced within the story. Dmitri is Raphael’s blade.
