Other books by this author which I have reviewed include Obsidian, Onyx, Opal, Origin, White Hot Kiss, Opposition, "Ice Cream", Obsession, Stone Cold Touch

Technically, it’s 2.1 in the Lux romantic science fiction series for Young Adults and revolving around Daemon Black and Katy Swartz, but it actually takes place during Onyx, 2, with a quick peek in from Daemon’s point-of-view of a scene. You can find it at Scribd, but you’ll have to take out a subscription. (As of June 21, 2015, the link on Goodreads to Armentrout’s website gets a 404 error.)

My Take

It’s worthwhile as a freebie, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy it, as it’s simply a different perspective that was easy enough to pick up on from Onyx.

That said, it does pull you in. If you’d never read any of the Lux books, I suspect this short would pull you in with its drama and tease.

The Story

It’s a trap. A trap to force Daemon to change Dr. Michaels. In exchange, not only will Kat be free, but Daemon will receive information he’s been hunting for, for months.

The Characters

Daemon Black is one of a trio of triplets. Aliens. Lux. Dee and the missing Dawson are the other two-thirds.

Kat is the young woman Daemon loves. His neighbor. She was human. Kelly Swartz is her mother, who works as a nurse.

Adam Thompson, Dee’s boyfriend, is another Luxen, who died after events in Onyx.

Dr. Will Michaels is the snake who inserted himself into Kelly Swartz’s life.

The Title

The title is succinct for that’s where the emotion really roils up, when Daemon sights “The Cage”.
