Twenty-fourth in the Breed series about an experimental lab which blended animal genes with people with the couple focus on Mica Toler and Navarro.

The main premise in this series is that the Breeds are entitled to the same pursuit of life and happiness as any other living being. Naturally, there are those who feel threatened by this…

My Take

Things are getting rather same-same in this series; Navarro is not fulfilling his promise!

Mica has known since she was a child that Navarro has no plans to settle down, and she gets upset when he wants to keep that lifestyle? Personally, I think they used Josiah to trigger Navarro’s animal side and that was rather fun. Could have lasted longer and brought some tension into the story.

I think Leigh is getting bored with writing about the Breeds. The last few novels have been lacking in the old tensions Leigh used to bring to this series.

The Story

Phillip Brandenmore is failing fast, and his people have stepped up the threats by going after Mica. The plan is that the Breeds will exchange Mica for Brandenmore. An exchange that Jonas will do everything possible…and more…to prevent as he needs the research Brandenmore has done to save his and Rachel’s baby girl.

The Characters

Mica Toler, Cassie‘s best friend, has loved Navarro for years.

Navarro. Cougar.

Jonas leads the Breeds and is married to Rachel; they have a baby girl.

Josiah.

Phillip Brandenmore is one of the investors in the labs, torturing Breeds for decades in his pursuit of money.

The Cover

I’m not impressed. Who is the guy supposed to be with his plastic-looking abs??
