The Stories

“A Restoration of Faith” is part of Harry’s apprentice days when he and his mentor, Nick, have been hired to find a kidnapped girl. Only, it seems, she wasn’t exactly kidnapped and now anyone seen with the girl will be on the hot seat with the cops.

“Vignette” is a quick peek into Bob and Harry arguing over his Yellow Pages ad.

“Something Borrowed” takes place on Billy and Georgia’s wedding day when a fae attempts to take Georgia’s place .

“It’s My Birthday, Too” takes Molly and Harry to the mall to deliver a birthday present to Thomas who is playing vampire for Sarah’s friends during a role-playing game. Good thing as the group comes under attack! Also appears in Many Bloody Returns.

“Heorot” loses a young man’s newlywed wife at a home-brewed beer festival and Harry joins up with Miss Gard to find the beastie who took her. Also appears in My Big Fat Supernatural Honeymoon.

“Harry’s Day Off” is a very busy short story as it finds Harry and his werewolf friends roleplaying until Harry gets too caught up in insisting that the magic be realistic *ahem*. Almost home, he runs into some wannabes that he just takes apart verbally…too funny! The next morning when he should be getting ready for his date with Luccio, he winds up with a couple of flea-ridden wolves on his doorstep caught up in some magic lust. Also appears in Blood Lite.

“Backup” finds Thomas playing backup for his sister, Lara. At first, Thomas thinks she’s just jerking him around but he soon discovers that she’s on the level and Harry is in trouble.

“The Warrior” finds Michael under surveillance by a rogue operative and Alicia is kidnapped. Also appears in Mean Streets.

“Last Call” finds the neutrality of Mac’s bar, McAnally’s Pub violated and his patrons hurt while there is a major possibility the ball game patrons are in danger. Seems the old deities are keen on bringing back the old “wine, women, and song” routine. Also appears in Strange Brew.

“Love Hurts” is a plot by the Red Court to make humans fall in love and deprive the White Court of their food supply…certainly gives Karrin and Harry some ideas.

“Aftermath” takes place an hour or two after Harry dies. Georgia has been kidnapped and Billy has come to Murphy for help only Murphy is on suspension. Billy and Murphy try to figure out how Harry would deal with the problem and they end up cracking a major case.

The Cover and Title

The background for the cover looks like a gilded brick wall with Harry in hat, staff, and leather coat sliding along it looking back for danger.

The title is what Harry takes on, some Side Jobs.
