My Take

The hard part is that there really are people that sick out there. The good part is all those hunky, dominant guys who simply want to protect and care for people. Men with honor…and abs! I do enjoy all the weapons action both inside and outside.

The Story

It’s been over six years since Risa Clay was rescued from her father, Diego Fuentes, and their experimental sex drug, Whore’s Dust. Elite Ops has learned that Orion has targeted Risa. The man who raped her all those years ago has discovered she’s starting to remember and he wants her dead before she destroys the life he’s built.

Micah wants to kills Orion in revenge for the deaths of his mother and father as well as his own “death” so he has multiple reasons for insisting on portraying Risa’s lover and covert bodyguard. Micah has been drawn to Risa since her rescue, silently watching over her all these years. To protect her and get his revenge? Oh, yeah…

The Characters

Risa Clay. Jason Clay is her horrible father working with Diego Fuentes, a drug lord.

Micah “Maverick” Sloan is a member of the Elite Ops.

Aside: Noah “Wild Card” Blake, formerly Nathan Malone, is back with his wife and working for Elite Ops.

Orion is an international assassin.

The Cover and Title

The cover is rather generic. A reasonably muscled guy in black tank and jeans with a sun and sword tattoo on his bicep standing relaxed in front of a straightaway, trees lining the road. Two cars their headlights facing us ready to race. What the connection is to the story…you tell me…

The title is Micah’s call sign, Maverick.
