Part of the Bear picture book series and revolving around a cuddly cub of a Bear.
My Take
I remember seeing a star in the sky and being told to make a wish upon that star. I didn’t have the patience of Bear, though, lol.
Mouse is so accepting, and it shows the loyalty of a good friend, to keep one company. I think Elephant just wanted to see if anyone would do it *giggle* until Turtle comes along to inflate everyone *more laughter*
There are more truisms about wishes as Bear’s friends offer advice…and it seems all those suggestions do work!
A lovely story of what is most important in one’s life…with soft, comforting colors that spread from page to page and is so perfect for the start of a new year.
The Story
One clear night, Bear makes a wish on a twinkling star, and Mouse joins him in waiting for the wish to come true. But the other animals who come by all have advice for Bear.
The Characters
Bear is the main character; Mouse is his best friend.
Owl, Fox, Elephant, Turtle, and Bunny all have suggestions.
The Cover and Title
The cover has a soft grayish blue background filled with yellow stars outlined in white with a caramel-colored, line-drawn, snuggly bear with dark speckles in the shaded parts of his body sitting back, his arms behind him, propping him up. Mouse is gray with pink paws, and he’s also seated and leaning back against Bear’s leg. The title spreads across most of the cover beginning in the upper left corner, using a deep iron-textured black in a rounded serif font. The author’s name is in the same black and teeny in the lower right corner.
The title is who he is, the Make a Wish Bear.
