A very short story, 1.1, in the Psy-Changeling Trinity (and 16.1, in the Psy-Changeling universe) paranormal romance series revolving around a world of three contesting groups: humans, Psy, and shifters. The couple focus is on Silver and Valentin Nikolaev amongst the Russian bears. If you’re interested, there is a chronological listing of the Psy-Changeling books on my website.

Singh provided this free story in her December 2018 Newsletter.

My Take

A sweet short story that lets us peek in at Silver’s life with Valentin. What’s truly amazing about the story is how much Singh tells us about the make-up of the series, including the Psy and their interactions to the bears and the party, life within Denhome, and those quick peeks at other bears in the clan.

Singh uses third person simple subjective point-of-view from Silver’s perspective as we experience only those events at which Silver is present.

The Story

A glittery homecoming portends the party to come, a massive celebration Silver is not expecting.

The Characters

Silver “Siva” Mercant, Krychek’s former assistant, is the coordinator of EmNet, the Emergency Response Network. Arwen is her empathic brother.

Valentin Nikolaev, a.k.a., Mishka, Valya, Valyusha, is the Alpha of the StoneWater bear pack (Silver Silence, 1 (16)).

The StoneWater bear pack claims…
…half the city of Moscow and the territory that borders it. Denhome is home base. The glittered-up Dima is the son of Nova (she’s Valentin’s second-oldest sister) and Chaos (he’s a polar bear and the head cook). Pavel is one of the techie bears with an interest in Arwen.

Even Kaleb Krycheck and Sahara, both Psy, come for the party (Heart of Obsidian, 12).

The Title

The title is too true, for there “Ain’t No Party Like A Bear Party”.
