A free short story, 1.5 in the Sidewinder spinoff funny, gay, romantic suspense subseries and 7.75 in the overall Cut & Run universe. The spinoff revolves around former homicide detective Nick O’Flaherty and Kelly Abbott.

My Take

It’s classic, lol! To be fair, both sexes can have a difficult time attracting the attention of their significant other when that other is absorbed in something they’re really interested in.

And Nick is just classic with his passion for baseball, and c’mon, it’s the Sox versus the Yankees, lol!

“’Commercial breaks are usually like three to five minutes,’ Nick said, and Kelly could see him starting to do the math.”

It’s all third person protagonist point-of-view from Kelly’s perspective, so we know how he’s feeling about Nick’s obsession, and I can’t help laughing.

Yep, it’s certainly action-packed as Kelly gets as obvious as all get out, and so very character-driven with Nick absorbed in that game.

The Story

Still recovering from the wounds he incurred in Touch & Geaux (Cut & Run 7), a bemused Kelly Abbott is enjoying the night, the view from Fiddler’s Green, and his blunt while watching Nick’s absorption in the game.

Whether the Sox won or lost was very important to how Kelly got laid that night.

The Characters

Sidewinder is/was…
…Ty’s special ops team, Force Recon Marines.

Former Staff Sergeant Nick “Irish” O’Flaherty, a Scout Sniper who’s got the trembles now, used to be a homicide detective in Boston where he lives on The Fiddler’s Green, his yacht.

Kelly “Doc” Abbott had been the team medic and is now Nick’s lover, although he lives in Colorado.

The Title

The title describes Kelly who is “High & Tight” in the backside.
