This was sooo good! I had a hard time getting into it at first but Foul Matter grew on me. It has a fascinating insight into the publishing industry as I suspect it really is but the best of it was the interaction of the writers and the hit men.
I find that I truly appreciate getting inside the head of a writer. How they write, how they think, how the story progresses. Heck, how the story comes about! Then Grimes adds the philosophical hit men with a heart… Lord wait until you get to the second to the last line at the end of chapter 34. Or the Keystone Kops routine at the Pittsburgh Hilton.
Then the title. I could not figure out how the title fit until the very end. Shame on you Martha! That was so not fair…you had better be writing something “foul”…I need ta know!
