This story takes place primarily in Brazil. Be sure to read the prologue! My Take It started off feeling same-same, but things developed into a story I could not put down. It sure kept my heart rate up! I loved being inside Hawker’s head as he analyzes what’s happening and the likely reasons for it. Man, Brown plays his characters well giving them unique personalities with unexpected deliveries. The professor is so sweet as he gets caught up in his subject while the innocent student holds up amazingly well. I love that Danielle has a heart and thinks the possibilities through, wanting to help people. It’s all positive and save-the-world until it descends into greed and the desire for power. It’s the events in this that provide this series an uncommon beginning […]

Based in Seattle, it’s been six months since Urban Shaman, 1. My Take Even though Murphy uses the oh, no, I don’t really want this power and the if I ignore it, it won’t be true tropes, Murphy brings in enough twist to it that I’m enjoying this. We do finally learn that, yes, Jo is a cop. We finally get the low-down on which role Jo actually plays: she was a mechanic for the cops and events caused her to become a beat cop. Yep, strange but true… A bit too much on the tell. Per my trope complaints, Murphy spends more time telling us that Jo isn’t studying rather than showing us. I do like Jo’s take […]

I was given an advance copy of the eBook. My Take I’m conflicted over Flaw. I love the story, and yes, it made me laugh and cry. What I like about Flaw is its main character — a jerk of a teen guy. The kind we ladies are warned against, who want to use us for their own ends. I just want to smack him within the first few pages as we read his thoughts about this girl in the car and his reasons — his so very justifiable reasons — for wanting to move out on his own. Arghhh! And, poor thing, he’s just exhausted from the move…*eye roll* Ladies, read Josh’s thoughts to learn what guys are really thinking when they pick you up in a bar. It may save your self-respect in the […]
