Word Confusion: Simple versus Simplistic

You’d think this word confusion would be simple — actually it’s a simple word that has a split personality in both its guises — simple vs simplistic. Simple is plain, easy, ordinary, or uncomplicated, or it can be naive or mentally handicapped. Simplistic sounds as if it should be simple, but it’s not. Simplistic does not describe things that are easy to understand, deal with, or use. Instead it’s more likely that somebody has overly simplified the problem so badly that the idea won’t work. Return to top Word Confusions . . . . . . started as my way of dealing with a professional frustration with properly spelled words that were out of context in manuscripts I was editing as well as books I was reviewing. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Fatal Fundraiserby Jennifer Willis paranormal fantasy, cozy mystery in a Kindle edition on October 6, 2022 and has 261 pages.Explore it on Goodreads or Amazon Other books by this author which I have reviewed include Crooked Curse, Sinister Snare, Tainted TreasureSecond in the Haunted Coast cozy paranormal mystery series set on Oregon’s coast and revolving around Suri Mudge who sees ghosts. The focus is on the return of a serial killer. My Take The start with the prologue is a bit confusing — I think it’s the original serial killer whose actions will be repeated in today’s start, or maybe it’s a new serial killer?? I don’t get where whoever it is thinks the house is his. The fundraiser sounded like a good idea — even though Eleanor says the library is already funded!
