My Take
What is this with the shorties? Yes, this is good. And I’m torn between ragging on about Graves putting out this tiny little taste. And then she has two more shorties — “Strings Attached” (63 pages for $2.99) and “Compromising Positions” (69 pages for $2.99); or you can save and buy all three for a mere $4.99. WTF??
A whopping 163 pages for the bargain price of $4.99. If Graves put this together as ONE short story and then sold it for $0.99 or even up to $3.99, I’d say jump on it. It’s well worth it. But it just chaps me when I feel as though I’m being screwed. I suspect I feel this way because of the come-on with this initial short. It’s like freely giving a friend a bit of heroin, and then making them pay for it once you’ve got them hooked.
That rant over, it is impressive how much heat and menace Graves manages to create in a mere thirty-one pages. Trust me, even without having read the next two shorties, if you read this one, you’ll want to read the next two, so save some money and just buy the collection. Or skip it entirely.
The Story
Mina has just been resoundingly dumped. Oh, in some ways she’s grateful. In other ways, she’d love to figure out a way to smack him back!

Mina Hemingway is a frigid woman, who’s been engaged to Ethan for the past four years.
Ethan Masters is a lying, cheating scum who happens to design golf courses.
Marco Genovese is a wealthy Italian who is being pursued by golf course designers eager to engage his business.
The Cover and Title
The cover is a metaphor for Marco’s intentions in black, grays, white, and flesh with a red-violet spark in the text with Mina in a backless evening dress with a be-suited Marco cupping her ass.
The title is what Mina wants, The Best Revenge.
