Word Confusion: Dominant versus Dominate

Oh man, trying to remember the spelling in this word confusion dominant vs dominate was a trial. I had to keep checking and rechecking and then rechecking some more, so I thoroughly understand how easily this pair of related words messes with the mind. I need to lie down and let my brain rest!

Dominant is an adjective and a noun that is commanding, controlling.

Dominate is a verb that controls.

So let me dominate you in a dominant way, bwah-ha-ha.

There’s a couple that won’t last. He’s a dominant and she’s a dominatrix.
