My Take What a load of crap. James didn’t write the first Fifty Shades well, but at least she gave it some heart and drama. In this one, the writing is simply horrible. Its only saving grace is Ana “saving” Christine Grey from himself. Otherwise, it’s a lot of whine, whine, whine. I try to remind myself that she’s young and hasn’t had much experience, but, ohhhh, the whining…and the juvenile romancing. Yuck. Somebody, please, find me a bucket! I do enjoy the emails they bat back and forth; I don’t understand why Ana is such an idiot about refusing to use her BlackBerry for those inflammatory emails she does send him. I can’t figure out if she’s simply stupid or […]

Wheel of Time Fans, Take Note

Wheel of Time Fans, Take Note

It is part of the , series and is a EBook retailers are offering From the Two Rivers for 99 cents at the moment on Kindle, Nook, and iPad). There is a bonus in purchasing The Eye of the World in two parts: there are illustrations in both books and the added “Ravens” prologue in From the Two Rivers while To the Blight also offers a bigger glossary. Although, unless your eReader displays in color, I don’t see much point in eBook illustrations… The reason for splitting the first two books in the WoT series in half is to entice those readers who are intimidated by the heft of the original books. This truly must be a psychological thing as, if the reader becomes enthralled, s/he’ll still have to read the whole thing… Y’all know how obsessed I am with chronology, so I’ll just mention that WoT begins with a prequel, New Spring, which brings Lan and Moraine together. The actual series begins with The Eye of the World which the publishers have split into two eBooks: From the Two Rivers and To the Blight. Second in the series is The Great Hunt which was split into The Hunt Begins […]

You might like to check out Sarah Anderson’s post on “A Penis by Any Other Name…” [no longer available from Heroes and Heartbreakers as of 21 Apr 2018] as well. Book Review: Tracey Garvis Graves’ On the Island

Book Review: Tracey Garvis Graves’ On the Island

I received this book for free from in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. On the Islandin Paperback edition on August 16, 2012 and has 346 pages.Explore it on Goodreads or Amazon An unexpectedly sweet romance. And one I would buy for my own. MGM has optioned it for a feature film. I’m not sure if I want to see this on the screen or not. I probably do. It’s just so sweet and sad and sweet again… My Take This is not a well-written story, but it is an incredible story. Graves had me laughing and crying and praying for these two. Very impressive. The story switches back and forth between Anna and T.J., providing us with their own perspectives on what’s happening to them and between them on the island. There’s a lovely, natural progression as they get to know each other. There are some massive holes in it, but Graves writes it so neatly that they really don’t seem to matter. She has written some very real characters and I loved the ending. It was practical and, finally, romantic. The Story It’s been eight […]
