Book Review: Lorelei James’ Chasin’ Eight
Each destroying their selves in their own way, it’s a road trip that leads to each opening up, seeing the similarities and self-absorptions they share. But no sex.

Although, the story actually takes place in Long Island. My Take Oh my god. I swear, if you look up “snark” in the dictionary, you’ll find John Corey’s picture. He is so incredibly funny as the sarcasm just falls right out of his mouth. Early on, John visits the murder scene (as a consultant for the cops), and the homicide detective in charge is annoyed at what appears to be some lookie-loo on her scene: “Excuse me.” “You’re excused.” “Excuse me, are you supposed to be here?” “I’m here with the band.” And it just keeps gettin’ better! I am curious how the pay offer falls from $100 a day to a week to $1 a day. It’s […]
A fascinating look at cause-and-effect in history and on the world.

It’s really more of a “3.5”, but I had to up it to a “4” if only because Jo isn’t being so dang stupid this time around! My Take Just another day in Jolene Parker’s life. Murder, mayhem, and no longer surprising her husband with what she’s up to. I do enjoy the homey warmth of this series. And it’s always fun to imagine racing about in the vintage cars Bork includes! Cory will do anything to help Brennnan. ANYthing. He doesn’t care if it will turn Brennan against him forever, as long as he’s safe. What is with James?? He goes to […]
Well, I am so far behind in my email…I must emerge more often, I guess…that the Java issue I just posted is “said” to be fixed. The folks over at NPR are still suggesting you should continue to keep your Java plugin disabled. Thanks very much to MultifactedMoi for letting me know. Sigh…
Annja leaps into a world of flamenco and bullfighting to a renowned matador and an illegal and deadly collection of Visigoth votive crowns.
Per the Department of Homeland Security, there appears to be a nasty virus going around using the Java plugin to access your computer through your browers. How miserable is that there’s a virus that affects Macs, too!? Anyway, read more about it at Reuters’ post on it, “Experts Urge PC Users to Disable Java, Cite Security Flaw”. Trust me, fellow Mac users, if you read the article, it does say we need to disable as well! NPR also has a post on it with slightly more/different information. Oracle has a page explaining how to disable Java in various browsers (be warned, Oracle skipped telling us the initial opening tab for Firefox and Chrome so you’ll have to hunt a bit) while Firefox (using Noscript) and Chrome (using Notscripts) both provide information on selectively disabling Java. The NPR article promises to post updates as they occur. Even if this does turn out to be a fake-out, it can’t hurt to play it safe.
It’s time to toss the dice. The Last Battle has started. The seals are crumbling. The Pattern is unraveling, and the armies of the Shadow are boiling out of the Blight.
