Book Review: Kelley Armstrong’s “From Russia, With Love”

“From Russia, With Love”in Hardcover edition on July 26, 2012 Explore it on Goodreads or Amazon The epilogue for Thirteen in the Women of the Otherworld paranormal romance series. It can also be found in an omnibus of short stories, Otherworld Nights. My Take This short story ties up the Danvers Pack succession. It’s a quick peek into the Pack’s relaxation and Elena’s required Challenge to take over the Pack from Jeremy. Very clever and so very Jeremy on how Armstrong handled the Challenge and Vanquish. Oh, man, I did enjoy Xavier’s discomfiture!! The Story Antonio and the rest of the Pack has retreated to Russia with Clay and Elena’s children while all the excitement is happening in Thirteen. Jeremy has every intention of not being Alpha any longer, but Elena must Challenge and Vanquish him. The Characters Elena and Clay have been happily mated for a number of years now and they have two children, twins: Kate and Logan. The primary focus is on Savannah, but everyone from the series has a part to play. This particular collector’s edition includes a short story, From Russia, With Love, which concludes Elena and Jeremiah’s business. In 2012, Thirteen was nominated for the Goodreads Choice for Paranormal Fantasy. My Take As much as I hate to see the series end, Armstrong ended this particular series beautifully with a promise of continuing life for most everyone. Armstrong says she has three anthologies planned with one scheduled for publication in 2014. She also says she may come back with a bigger story. When you finish, you’ll realize that Armstrong has left herself all sorts of possibilities. Nice that Savannah gets […]

Book Review: Bart D. Ehrman’s Misquoting Jesus: The Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Why

Book Review: Bart D. Ehrman’s Misquoting Jesus: The Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Why

I received this book for free from in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Misquoting Jesus: The Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Whyin Paperback edition on February 6, 2007 and has 266 pages.Explore it on Goodreads or Amazon A non-fictional account of how and why the Bible is NOT the direct word of God. My Take This was an excellent, very scholarly account using scientific and textual inquiry to present the manner in which people have for centuries been changing the words that make up the New Testament. The work involved in determining which copy is the more original was and is tremendous. It gives me a headache just thinking of how to keep track and organize the mass of material! I want a time machine!! Ehrman explains the story in an easy-to-read manner with no blame applied. And it is a simple, basic human reaction to “fix” things. To make it more understandable. As well as a normal human reaction to want to slant the stories, the parables, the words to reflect one’s own beliefs. To use these words to pressure others into thinking […]
