My Take

Blood Trinity reads like a cross between Kenyon’s B.A.D. Agency and Dark-Hunters series — melodrama crossed with intensity.

I’m not sure where the series name comes in, unless it is in reference to the friendship between Evalle, Tzader, and Quinn who all work for VIPER, and are technically, all members of the Belador tribe. I say technically because Evalle is also an Alterant who can turn into a vicious beast which, for reasons unknown, threatens the Belador tribe.

Kenyon/Love have written some very memorable characters and set up the possibilities of at least two romances for Evalle, who is a very twitchy woman indeed. Raped at 15 by a doctor, Evalle has some serious trust issues which are not helped by being under the high-intensity magnifying glass of VIPER and the Beladors. One Belador-VIPER in particular who really has it in for Evalle.

Here, we are introduced to the cast line-up, how everyone functions, as well as previous histories to give it a solid background, and all the potential conflict a series writer could want.

The melodrama was a bit much, but I’m enjoying the character interaction too much — that Evalle is such a prickly thing — and I can’t wait for Alterant, 2 to show up.
