A very short story, 10.5 in the Cut & Run m/m romantic suspense series, revolving around retired FBI agents Ty Grady and Zane Garrett who now run a bookstore in Baltimore, Maryland…and provide support to the CIA.
This short story can be found in the back of Part & Parcel, Sidewinder 3.
My Take
It’s a capsule look that barely gives us a peek in at Zane and Ty’s new life.
It starts with such tension, and then those claws latch on. Ya just can’t help laughing about the “attack” and at Ty’s comments about and to the “sleeping” man.
Nope, Ty is not impressed with this kid and his moves, lol.
It’s all third person objective point-of-view with the narrator telling us what he sees.
There isn’t much to the story, just a quick peek into Zane and Ty’s life now that they’ve retired.
The Story
He barely got away, and he’s sure this is supposed to be the safehouse. But a bookstore?
Who are these guys, anyway?
The Characters
Ty “Wildcat” Grady and Zane “Lone Star” Garrett run a bookstore, Brick & Mortar Books, that also serves as a safehouse for CIA agents. Jiminy and Cricket are the new kittens.
CIA Agent Brady Wade needs the win to keep his career.
The enemy appears to be a Russian woman.
The Title
The title introduces us to Ty and Zane’s bookshop, “Brick & Mortar Books”.
