My Take
Mercy makes a good call on “Testosterone Night”, lol. I’ll bet there are a lot of wives out there who’ll agree.
“Stalking Hawke” is the epitome of Singh’s Psy-Changeling series, as it showcases the warmth and connectedness of the pack. Now, Hawke can be terrifying, and yet he is so very approachable when it comes to kids. The whole pack’s approach to each other is one of building up confidence — and a character trait I still have to work on for myself.
Singh does use third person protagonist point-of-view from Hawke’s perspective, perfect for this particular tale.
And for any parent wondering about that confidence build-up, you could do worse than read this free story.
The Story
The “stealthy” clickety-click of tiny wolf paws caused a grin to rise up in Hawke and several of his lieutenants. And Hawke strung his own walkabout out a bit longer simply to listen to his stalker.
The Characters
Hawke Snow is the wolf alpha of the SnowDancers.
SnowDancer is…
…a shifter pack of wolves outside San Francisco, Ben is quite the precocious little guy. Ben is one of my favorite characters! Judd Lauren, a rogue Arrow from the Psy, is Ben’s uncle (Caressed by Ice, 3).
Riley is Hawke’s senior lieutenant; Mercy, a leopard with the DarkRiver pack, is his mate (Branded by Fire, 6). Riaz is another senior lieutenant (Tangle of Need, 11).
The White Zone is a safe play area directly outside the den.
The Title
The title is a children’s game: “Stalking Hawke”.
